proportion of our Hong Kong administrative charges.
Theprovision in our tender against the contingencies
referred to above can, under such an arrangement as this, be
reduced, although should such contingencies arise the consequent
cost would fall to be met by the Colonial Government. We believe
this would provide a satisfactory arrangement to both parties,
and would be more economical for the Government.

Our offers are
to execute the work at the rates quoted in the Schedule
for the sum of £200,000 (Two hundred thousand pounds)
to execute the work at cost, estimated to be £138,000
(One hundred & thirty-eight thousand pounds), for the
Colonial Government plus a fixed fee of £27,000 (Twenty-seven thousand pounds) to cover our remuneration,
London Office, and certain Hong Kong Office charges.
In both instances, operations on the site to be
put in hand as early as possible in September, 1926, and to be
completed six months after that date.
We must notify you that in connection with our offer
(1) we shall wish to discuss with you several clauses in the
General Conditions with respect to requirements we have not been
able to include in our offer.
We shall hope to have an opportunity to explain
our proposals for the execution of the work under (1) or (2)
and, if required, the details of our proposal (2) at an early
date.
